Blood on Our Hands
Blood on our Hands 2018 Lithography 7.5 x 11.5 inches
Blood on our Hands represents the social and ethical issues associated with illegal gold mining. Many illegal miners are trapped into a form of slavery through debt and are exposed to inhumane treatment and hazardous work conditions. Though its past is covered in sweat and blood, illegally mined gold frequently ends up in our gold economy and in our jewelry. The piece of gold used in this image was melted down from my own jewelry to promote the use of ethically sourced and reused gold.
